One busload of immigrants waits to walk to the Catholic Charities Respite Center. They have just been released from the Border Patrol's detention center in McAllen, Texas and dropped off at the McAllen Central Station. Most have requested asylum after crossing the border. On many days, four busloads of immigrants are released from detention and left at the bus station. Similar scenes take place at other cities along the border.
After getting food, a shower, and clean clothes from Catholic Charities, the immigrants will take buses to various cities in the US to stay with relatives until they have their asylum hearings in court. If they are not granted asylum, most will be deported.
